Darin's illustration's are generally drawn with colored pencil, however there are times when pen and ink or graphite pencil will be used. Detail and realism are most noticeable when viewing the artist's drawings. Darin often uses photographs taken by his father, Robert Knupp. Robert is a fantastic wildlife photographer who travels extensively to photograph animals in their natural environment. Darin also uses his own photos, and is willing to come to your home to photograph your pet, home or any other subject matter that interests you. Then using these photos the artist is able to create these wonderful illustrations, spending up to 50 hours on one piece of artwork. (40+ hours on bobcat) The size of the illustrations vary, but are usually no larger than 15in. x 24in. illustrations are charged by the hour, but a flat rate will be quoted if necessary.

This bobcat was photographed in Montana by Robert Knupp (artists father). So taken by the image Darin felt the need to recreate the photo using colored pencil and paper. This is a great example of how much detail can be put into an illustration to achieve the photo-realistic style, often used by the artist. 14"x 20" (2002)
