Darin was born in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. His artistic talent was evident at an early age, and he knew that he would go on to study art. He first attended Iowa State University to study design, but soon realized that his love was fine art. Darin transferred to Northern Illinois University to focus on drawing and painting, eventually graduating as an illustrator in 1992.
Darin has lived and worked in the Chicago area all of his life. He spent the past 13 years working at the Board of Trade and has been creating custom paintings, murals and illustrations for clients over the last 15 years. He now resides in the Lincoln Square neighborhood and works out of his studio. He will travel within the Chicago area as well as to the surrounding suburbs to give free on site estimates or consult with clients by phone or email. Darin likes to meet with clients when possible, allowing him to see the space where the art is intended to be displayed. This is also an opportunity to lend any photos or fabric/color swatches to the artist so that he has a better understanding of what you want.
His inspiration comes from nature, wildlife, travel and other artists. He spends much of his vacation time hiking, fishing and shooting photos. Much of Darin's work is detailed realism, however he can adapt styles to meet the demands of the project. Because of attention to detail, quality photographs are essential to the overall success of the project.
